Ince Failure Down To Inexperience

Paul Ince became the latest premiership managerial casualty after being sacked by Blackburn Rovers. Football is a result based business and no one can deny Rovers have had a terrible run in that department. Relegation is something that puts the fear of god into premiership chairmen so it is no real surprise they have acted in this way.

By parting company with Ince at this stage of the season Rovers will allow the new manager ample time to mount a recovery. There is no doubt they have sufficient quality in their squad on paper at least. It is just a case of motivation and getting the best out of those players.

Former Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has emerged as the early front runner for the job. After working miracles at Bolton for many years, he should be a popular and successful appointment. He has plenty of premiership experience and knows how to handle the big name players.

It was not too long ago that Ince was being hailed as one of the brightest young managers in English football. He may yet prove to be a good boss in time but that is a commodity rarely given to managers in the premiership. When he got the job at Blackburn there was a feeling the appointment had come too soon for him as he was still inexperienced in managerial terms.

He will not be out of work for very long after successful spells at both Macclesfield and MK Dons. The next port of call for Ince will probably be a championship club and that will enable him to further develop as a manager. In hindsight the jump from Milton Keynes to Blackburn Rovers was too much for a boss with limited experience.
