When they are on form Arsenal play some of the most attractive football you are ever likely to see and there seems to be a conveyor belt at the emirates producing some of the best young players in Europe year in year out. But as entertaining as they are to watch there are times when Arsene Wenger's players go missing.
Throwing away a 4-2 lead against Spurs in the recent North London derby was criminal especially when you consider how many times they squandered possession in the final few minutes. They did not even have to put the ball into row z but just keep hold of the thing even if that meant taking it into the corner.
There are times when Arsenal are found wanting against the more physical sides and a classic example of this was games against Bolton Wanderers under Sam Allardyce. When the going got tough you felt the flair players went missing or did not have the stomach for a battle.
Contrast this with the Arsenal teams of old and the epic battles against Manchester United with players like Patrick Viera and Martin Keown standing up to be counted. That is exactly the kind of player who Arsenal are lacking right now. Some people think that Viera was never really replaced and it is surely time for Wenger to enter the transfer market in January to remedy this.
They say that you do not win anything with kids and as far as the premiership goes that is still very much the case regardless of how good those young players are. Arsenal are probably two good signings away from being serious title challengers with a central defender and a midfielder the obvious areas that need strengthening.

Spot on arsene wenger is a legend but he seems determined not to spend any money. Viera was a hard player but also a quality footballer i would have him back tomorrow.
