Redknapp Lands Spurs Job

When Martin Jol was dumped by Tottenham a year ago after the clandestine attempts to snare Juande Ramos there was no shortage of sympathisers in the football world. Ramos may not get the same amount of sympathy although the similarities are uncanny having recently had the same dreaded vote of confidence from Daniel Levy which usually means get ready to clear your desk.

After deciding to dispense with the services of Ramos it was clear Spurs needed a quality appointment and Harry Redknapp fits the bill perfectly and if he is allowed funds to bring players in he should replicate the success enjoyed at Portsmouth.

There was a feeling that Redknapp had taken Portsmouth as far as he could and with rumours of money problems at Fratton Park and likely player sales in January it may well be the right time for him to move on to a new challenge.

Spurs did not do themselves any favours with losing so many top strikers in such a relatively short space of time. Any premiership squad would notice the loss of players such as Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov and Jermaine Defoe and many observers feel they are still short of a quality striker.

Redknapp had an instant impact inspiring an impressive performance from the team who delivered a 2-0 home win over Bolton which has set things up nicely for the North London Derby against rivals Arsenal in midweek.
