England delivered another impressive away win polishing off Belarus 3-1 and the team under the managership of Fabio Capello is starting to form an impressive record. It may be hypothetical but there is no doubt that under the previous regime we would not have the same number of points as we currently do and the credit for that must go to the manager.
From running around like a demented lunatic with no end product earlier in the season Wayne Rooney looks a completely different player in recent England games and is starting to form a potent partnership with Emile Heskey up front. Heskey himself was probably England's best player on the night getting through a tremendous amount of hard work.
There is still the question of how best to incorporate Gerrard and Lampard in the same midfield and more importantly how to get them to gel together and questions remain over the continued omission of Michael Owen with Capello citing his lack of work rate as being a major factor for his absence from the squad.
As long as the results keep coming in nobody will question the Capello team or squad selections he even seems to have come up with an important role for fading star David Beckham by using him as a time wasting substitute.
