It is a good time to be a Manchester City fan right now after yet another takeover this time from the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ADUG) the club made their intentions clear with some ambitious transfer activity attempting to sign Berbatov from Tottenham to add to the Robinho capture from Real Madrid.
They say money talks and although City may have a stubborn Real Madrid to thank for their unwillingness to sell Robinho to Chelsea it is still a fantastic signing for them and should give City a real chance of breaking into the top four this season and with their new found wealth comparisons are already being made with City being called the Chelsea of the North.
Quite what Chelsea in particular Roman Abramovich made of it is anyones guess Peter Kenyon was accused of arrogance by the Madrid hierarchy but everyone assumed this was simply an attempt to delay the Robinho deal and that the Brazilian would be arriving at Stamford Bridge
The attempt to sign Dimitar Berbatov under the nose of their rivals from Old Trafford would not have impressed the red half of Manchester but again shows that the ambition as well as the funds that are now in place even if the player had already made his mind up some time ago regarding the move from Spurs to United.
This all augurs well for the Manchester derby matches this season which should be even more spicy than usual with City surely more of a match now with former United legend Mark Hughes as manager and two big signings in Robinho and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
