When the Cristiano Ronaldo thing blew up a few weeks ago just prior to Euro 2008 I was a little surprised that his national team manager with Big Phil Scolari should pipe up and give his input on the possibility of the Manchester United star signing for Real Madrid.
Scolari took time out from preparing his Portugal team for such an important tournament and then made no secret of the fact that he had personally advised Ronaldo that he should sign for Madrid etc etc which was all rather puzzling to say the least.
Fast forward a matter of days and it was announced that Chelsea had appointed none other than Big Phil Scolari as their new manager so then everything became clear of course Scolari wants Ronaldo to sign for Madrid it would make winning the premiership title for Chelsea next season significantly easier if United were to lose their star player.
