Liverpool Sign Keane For £19 Million

After their interest in Aston Villa's Gareth Barry has seemingly cooled Liverpool have signed Robbie Keane from Tottenham for £19 million presumably to be the first choice to partner Fernando Torres up front although with Rafa Benitez and his famous squad rotation policy you can never be too sure.

Keane has been a quality performer for a few years now in the premiership and with respect he will be playing among slightly better players at Anfield compared to Spurs which should improve his game still further.

Some people will question the fee and that is where the game has gone unfortunately players like Keane and Gareth Barry are undoubtedly solid premiership players but whether they are really worth the best part of £20 million is open to question it was not that long ago that such a fee would land the best player in the world.

Liverpool under Benitez always seem to be spending big in the transfer market year in year out and it is like a work in progress with plenty of activity but apparently no real end product and even with the addition of Robbie Keane Liverpool will probably finish next season in fourth place.
