Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has fired the first shots at last seasons runners up Chelsea in the psychological battle as the new premiership season approaches.
Ferguson dismissed arguably his closest rivals for the title and poured cold water on their chances of winning the premiership this coming season indicating that the team of 30 somethings at Stamford Bridge were perhaps past their best and not capable of improvement.
New Chelsea manager Phil Scolari has been around long enough for these mind games to not let it affect him and he is probably already aware of how fergie likes to try and wind up the opposition.
If Dider Drogba and Ronaldo both stay put it will be a close battle between the two clubs with Chelsea surely bridging last seasons gap after strengthening their squad over the summer.
