Chelsea Go For Scolari

Luiz Felipe Scolari
Premiership runners up Chelsea have announced that Portugal boss Phil Scolari will be their new manager taking up his new job from the 1st July onwards.

The Brazilian emerged as one of the favourites for the job so the appointment itself is perhaps no surprise but the announcement coming in the middle of Euro 2008 is very surprising and one suspects that Chelsea rather than Scolari would want the news released now rather than after the tournament.

The man has a fantastic record at international level with both Brazil and now Portugal so it will be interesting to see how he fares in English club football.

So provided 'Big Phil' does not do one of his famous about turns and decides he does not want the job after all then we can look forward to him locking horns in the Premiership next season with Fergie, Arsene Wenger and Rafa Benitez.
